U.S. Bank Building Explosion Caused By Damaged Transformer

The explosion rocking the U.S. Bank building yesterday was caused by a damaged transformer.  Knocking out power to the 36-story building, the explosion took place in an underground vault on 7th Street filling the air with smoke and forcing emergency evacuations.  Ameren crews worked through the night to repair the faulty circuits and removed the broken transformer.
