Feds Sought Blood, Saliva In Roadside Stops

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the tests it conducted over the weekend in St. Charles County are used as part of a national survey to measure impaired driving.  The “Post Dispatch” reports a government subcontractor, with the help of an off-duty sheriff’s deputies randomly selected motorists and asked them to voluntarily submit blood and saliva tests.  Because the public may not have thought the testing to have been voluntary, sheriff’s Lt. Dave Tiefenbrunn says his department would not participate in future surveys.
